Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. She received the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's upcoming project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of it is a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford is set to appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big role. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides his time in Los Angeles.
